Time glass
Trickle trickle.
You are whacthing
a time glass.
You sit there
waiting
turning it over and
over again,
when it runs out
of sand at the top.
You are hesitating
for time to stop.

last poem until i go to vermont!i hope you like it!
Yo! I get really anxious when I think about time never stopping. There are lots of moments I wish I could freeze. You are such an observant writer too! I noticed you using the spacing in your poems on purpose. You said you did it when you saw other people do it! Keep learning from other people and look for different ways to write your poems!
A timepiece image! You’re a girl of my own heart.
Another great one, with the subtle rhyming couplet at the end, like a mini sonnet.
There is no question you’re a poet, ma’am! You have the eye, you’re playing with the words. The next piece (which I didn’t get til maybe four years ago in college) is what your dad asked: Why are you spacing the way you do? How should/can the poem look on the page? Sometimes the poems just shape themselves how they want to! ?. Sometimes, it just looks right or neat (as yours does). But there’s also, many times, a reason (whether we realize it or not).
I like how you did this one because the reader can almost “see” that time creeping away to the right margin…the visual pulls our eyes along with the words!
All to say, well done, little lady!!
Truly enjoying all your work this month!
Abra, I love your poems! Your use of onomatopoeia, spacing, and being willing to talk about what you see in the world make your poems fun to read and make your reader think.
If you haven’t already, check out the books Love That Dog and Hate That Cat by Sharon Creech. They are awesome stories and they helped me see how reading other people’s poetry can help you become a better writer.
Great piece yet again
Abra, you are SUCH a talented writer! Your use of spacing illustrates the unease of the passing of time, and your last line is so powerful. Keep writing! You’re amazing!
Your mind and your feelings mature with each poem you write. Keep that going…
Love it, Abra. You write great poems.
Abra, you have done a fantastic job during lexpomo! Your poetry feels like riding a bike without skinning your knee!
