Today,
the
dear
blue sky a well
a bridge
wind
beginning to flower everywhere
I
see splendour
just now
this idea of
my body
as
pasture.

So cool the way you take interesting and diverse readings to make a unique poem.
Thank you, Jim! I find writing them addictive. I have two collections of poetry filled with them.
I really enjoyed this. My favorite parts of this piece are “wind beginning to flower” and “this idea of my body as pasture.”
Thank you, Shaun. Those were my favorite images to come upon.
Love this, Karen. “My body as pasture” Beautiful.
Thanks, Gwyneth!
Karen, I love the “dear blue sky” and everything that comes after! You, indeed, have mastered this form!
Thank you, Sylvia!
Ditto on the “my body as pasture.” Beautiful erasure.
Thanks, Linda!
Love this one too! How fun!
Emily–Thank you!
I love this poem!…the idea that the words came from Vincent–thrills me as a painter as I love Vincent (see my Painter Love, june 1 poem…) And the words you have selected embody his bond with the earth–his surroundings–his world–in that it is all chaos out there and artist’s pull together select elements for their art–The words your select are good and right and true for Vincent and for me the reader. Also the “my body as pasture” immediately stood up next to the phrase by Barbara Kruger “your body is a battleground” which lives in my mind—-now your phrase (and Vincent’s) will live there to. Thank you, thank you!
Ann, Thanks! Loved your “Painter Love.”
Creatively crafted, Karen. And I love the echo of Vincent that you’ve allowed to remain. (This is a form I need to try!!)
Emily–Thank you!
I also love the line: my body as pasture.
You are really a master of this form. Must try writing one.
They’re a lot of fun to write. And I like picking source documents of writers and artists I love, as a form of homage to them.
I love how you shaped this poem, Karen! And what a way to land this beautiful poem:
my body
as
pasture.
Thanks, Pam! It was such a surprise when those words fell together.
Wonderful!
Thank you, Bill!
Thank you, Bill!
Oh, this one is so gorgeous!! Love!!
Thank you, Ellen!
I love wind beginning to flower everywhere. I love the lovely way you do erasure poetry.
Sue, Thanks!
So enjoyed this, Karen. I echo “my body as pasture” along with the others here. It’s amazing to me how you find your own underlying images in visual art and existing words.
Wow. One of the best erasure poems I’ve come across.
Thank you, Tom!
