untitled
Deep in the night
The dogs whimper,
legs whirring,
chasing the rabbits who escape in daylight.
The air conditioner roars,
given voice,
a monster unleashed in darkness.
A car approaches,
tires thumping,
by night exposing day’s hidden treasures.
When I sleep,
I dream,
recovering the past that separates our waking lives.

“The air conditioner roars,

I really like that line
“chasing the rabbits who escape in daylight”
I love this image and this treatise on dream-filled nights.
The whirring legs and AC unit make this wonderful!
Thank you!
Lots of action in the poem, even with sleep and dreams. Yes, the air conditioner monster is great!
