we are all broken
some of us pretend
it’s not true
we lie–even
to ourselves
we hide what
is real because
we fear
exposure
we would rather
suffer in
silence than
face judgment
but remember
always
it’s not just you
not just me
it is what being
human is all
about:
being broken
a bandage here,
a splint there,
a hat against the sun,
a blanket against the night,
but still broken
i found this
one thing that
can help:
let’s be broken
together

Thank you, Mike–I appreciate you!

That’s funny, Jim–love it!
Have you ever heard “The John Deere Tractor Song” by the great Don Walser? I think you’d like it. Walser recorded two versions–one is better than the other, but I’ll leave it to you to decide which is which.
This is lovely. I love this part:
a bandage here,
a splint there,
a hat against the sun,
a blanket against the night,
Thank you, Linda. I appreciate your kind comment.
Amen. I agree with the others–great work.
Thank you, Shaun.
