Wild Black Raspberries
A biennial by the looks of it
and totally new to me.
Just think, I didn’t have to plant,
nurture, prune, nor plow.
I just have to avoid
the everyennial
poison ivy.

Yes! I have them wild by our creek, too and they’ve been a favorite since childhood. Love your poem and the nod to poison ivy’s alwaysness.
Totally new to me and they are fine.
love this! especially “everyennial” 🙂
Thanks, Leah.
Beautiful, Melva! I hate poison ivy too. Thank god my landlord is immune to it.
Thanks, Kevin.
Wonderful juxtaposition of the pleasant surprise of the raspberries with the danger of the poison ivy. Nice poem!
Thanks, Bill.
Love this. Brings back memories of harvesting wild black raspberries for pies. And less pleasant memories of encounters with poison ivy. Well done.
Thanks, Gwyneth.
The poem sang from start to finish – it sang what it meant and it meant what it sang. Perfect as it comes. Wonderful. I didn’t think about myself for a moment while reading. ❤️
I laughed out loud!
