yearning
I grab my aching heart,
give her a shake
I scream at her
why are you so restless?
what are you yearning for?
she ponders for a moment,
looks around
she shrugs and says
not this.

Very nice twist at the end.
thank you so much!!
Yes! Love the personification, the angst and the humor. A powerfully-packed short poem!
thank you :))
Love the conflict here. Such fun visuals contrasting with the end.
Thank you!! 🙂
I love this one so much. What a universal theme too – so many folks can relate to this feeling.
thank you! I thought so too 🙂
Fun, tight poem. It really says, or suggests, a lot in just a few words. “This” could allude to so much, but what’s clear is the speaker’s heart’s discontent.
My poem today also features the word “heart,” coincidentally.
Looking forward to reading more of your work this month.
That’s so cool! Thank you so much, I appreciate it 🙂
(three cheers for clarity!) love the way the heart knows what it wants, even if that just means what it doesn’t…sometimes that’s enough.
