You and the river
I love you
You love the river
Turn into me
Never bitter
Now I’m a halfway decent swimmer
I want to get caught in the riptide of your eyes
Exhaust myself against the current of my favorite ride
Lover
Touch me
I’ll shimmer
You can glitter

‘I want to get caught in the riptide of your eyes’
Fantastic line! And I love how each stanza switches things up between form and slanting rhyme schemes. This is incredible!
Thank you Philip!
I love the rhythm and structure of this poem. As I read it, I can feel it pulling me in slowly, like falling slowly downriver knowing there’s no escape. Lovely poem.
Wow.
Sinuous
a touch of wetness
& shimmer & glimmer
!!!
This is smooth as hell
When you swim in this poem, I get an image of you swimming, not against the ripttide, but across it.
Sweet and yearning.
the shape of the right margin feels like water lapping against the shore in your wake.
