You Are a Performer
The show must go on
Elephants must be fed T
he ticket booth still opens at 4:30
The show will go on
The Ferris wheel will turn
Kids’ eyes will gleam for cotton candy
The show will go on
Lions will be tamed
Tonight, the sword swallower will eat fire
The show will move on
and set up down the road
Strike your tent, leave your pain behind

I like how you portray an entire timeline with variations of that common phrase “the show must go on.” It’s a bit melancholy, in the best way.
Good ending!
This applies in so many ways to life in general and can be interpreted so many ways!
Love it!
Great use of form and description, as always.
Love the tension between the title and last clause
I think I’m still feeding the elephants, but wonderful poem, Mike!
