Ordinary Joy
Delighted to get in the shower
each day, one moment in time
of soapy scrubbed perfection.
I get out dripping,
stepping fresh onto the blue
fluffy bath mat now imprinted
with my wet footprint, and towel
dry, ready for clean clothes.
My purification exercise,
redemption for a new day.
This must be something like
forgiveness, a spotless beginning,
a relinquishing of the past.

Sometimes there is nothing better than a good, scalding shower. 😀
What a novel topic and a broadening at the end. I’m getting ready to shower and will think of your poem!
Good, hope it enhances your experience!
As usual, your ending takes the poem to a higher level.
I have enjoyed your work this June so much.
That makes me so happy Thank you!
I think during the pandemic I have luxuriated in the shower and bath more—a simple pleasure yet more to it that you captured! I am impressed with your output! And enjoying ! Kim
Thanks, Kim Good to hear from you
