Precious
Country boy, take off your steel-toed boots.
The earth is richer for the press of your feet upon her sun-warmed soil.
Each footprint left behind blooms roses that smell of you.
I eat them, thorns and all,
and weep.

Very resonant. Love the ending.
Thank you!!
I really enjoyed this! “I eat them, thorns and all” wonderful line!
Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed this as well! It creates its own atmosphere
Haunting, that last line especially! Not a wasted word – kudos to the poet!
