A Legacy of Voices
When one generation dies
The following one carries
Within
The sound of their
Voices
Which reside in their hearts
Echo in their letters
And laughter is heard jotted on cards
Yet wth each new generation
Vocal vibrations of ancestors
Lessen in intensity
Over time
With fewer vestiges left to
Remind us of them
As I gaze at these family photographs
I ask myself
How can I pass on to my
Grandsons
All that know about my
Grandparents
Without the music of their
Voices

A lovely poem! So much is often lost through the generations. The idea of music in voices works so well. Beautiful last lines and thought.
Thank you for reading and your kind comments…yes, some things by their very nature will be lost…
It is sometimes surprising what does survive.
Thanks again!
Ann, I think of this often, especially when I hear their voices in my head and witness their imprint growing lighter dimmer . . . yet the impress never seems to go away. Love walking where your words took me to today, always THANK YOU!
Ann, I’d still like to collect some vestiges of my grandparents, things much of my family doesn’t seem to care about. Thanks for your sweet thoughts.
