Maira Faisal

Bio for 2025

Maira Faisal is a senior at Northern Kentucky University. She was the 2024-25 Kentucky Youth Poet Laureate and the Spring 2023 undergraduate library fellow at her college. Her work has been recognized by multiple university journals, Hanging Loose Press, Writers Resist, and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. She led the first workshop of and assisted with Urban Word’s National Poem Project Pakistan, which became the first international Youth Poet Laureate Program. She enjoys painting, drinks too much chai and coffee, and hopes to be a physician in the future.
