Angels
left to their own devises
will whisper sweet nothings
into your ear…convbince you right
is wrong and up is down;
since they have to work ALL the time
and are highly
underpaid,
a little tom-foolery
seems to be their just compensation
Especially useful
in maters of the heart,
they are masters of rationalization
and usually advise us
to let modesty fly out the window
Not so long ago
they were highly sought after
consultants,
had a place at the table
and were even in the movies.
Alas, there is no longer room for them
in our data center world
and robots lack the imagination.
Angels are being laid off
by the millions…the billions actually

Interesting commentary, here!
Tragedy and comedy combined!
It’s hard out here for an angel…
love the lighthearted beginning leads to an unexpected serious ending
Applause for the angels and the angel poet!
Great sentiments of our times.
The ending is a perfect volta
When you talk to them, please tell them they still have a place at my table!
That last image of them “being laid off/by the millions…the billions actually” is very gripping and leaves me thinking
This poem truly balances elements of comedy and tragedy. It keeps me smiling, but also thinking long after I read it. I came back this morning to read it again. Glad I did. Great write!
