Yesterday’s News -or- Are You Sure It’s Just My Hormones?
Fight cage on the White House lawn
Attic baby found
Man aboard an airplane wants
to jump down to the ground
There’s people in the sewers
and the IRS has rats
Evacuate your city
there’s a crack in poison vats
TSA found monkey pox
In luggage someone packed
A screw worm’s loose in Texas
Retro Pizza Hut is back

This is so good! The rhyme and content also make me feel like you could make this poem an addition to “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” 🔥
Ahahaha I think you’re right! I’ve always loved that song 😆
This could be a chain poem. Just keep it going! Your examples are so distinct. This should be on my Doomsday soundtrack!
I’ve already (accidentally while scrolling and not even looking for news) seen a few more things I could add just this morning!
Oh, this is incredible, Arwen! You capture everything happening now and you pull it all together so well. Yes!
great juxtapositions
of the weird
world we’re caught in
Fight cage on the white house lawn ends an age. This poem captures the insanity so well.
P.S. your title was great too
Thank you! It was an afterthought but felt appropriate
between the images and the taut short rhyming lines, the poem shouts, and then, as Jim suggests, the title frames it in dark humor
I came to say what Gaby said.
The long title and the quick rhymes really make this one work. And like linda said this could go on.
Lyrical! Love the little positive turn in the last line… Retro Pizza Hut is so back!
Love the title and how you capture the wierdness we live in.
Fabulous poem! I really enjoyed it!
