Baby Bat
little leather creature
smaller than my balled up fist
curled wings crossed
tiny feet clutch rain gutter’s edge
grip rain-tapped metal
hope hangs here

Very sweet
Thanks. He was just too cute this morning!
Makes me think of the many ways we all have to describe home. Good one!
Thanks, Lee! I saw the little creature earlier this morning when I let my dog out in the yard. I had a completely different poem in mind for today until I saw that bat. Ha!
Hope can be found in the smallest, most overlooked places.
I really exho what lee said and now reading that this is a flash piece love love it many more more!!!
Great inspiration!
From memory so grain of salt, I would say, bat is good fortune 😀
I love this gentle reminder that hope lives. It is up to each of us to find and recognize it. The last line “hope hangs here” is one to be remembered.
the three stressed syllables at the end linger
Love this!
