Thanks, everyone! For the longest time, I thought I was hearing a really loud bird chirping until my Merlin app didn’t recognize it. I searched the neighborhood and spotted a big ol’ German Shepherd with his squeaky toy. Alpha! I wonder what his dog ego would think about being immortalized in a haiku!
