Did sitcoms help
work out my growing pains?
Would I ever be as funny as Carol Burnett,
as slick as Barbara Feldman?
Could I possibly bewitch a man as Barbara Eden
or nose-twitching Elizabeth Montgomery did?
Stride onstage as pert a woman as Marlo Thomas
or as hard-working as Mary Tyler Moore?
Sure, suspending disbelief is all part of the game
in sitcom-land, but what do you think?
Have we really come a long way, baby?

Interesting! I love the pop culture and the specificty. And you didn’t “over-write.” Well done!
Very cool trip down memory lane, with a complex question at the end. Love!
Love how you bring the current plight of women with the past sitcoms (were groundbreaking for the actors in that they starred in their own shows and in real life champions (ed) many good causes.
A complex and good question at the end.
Yes, you are That Girl: the poet, the woman, the complex question!
Good question! Maybe we need a sitcom with a poet!
Love the historical perspective that leads to your ending question.
