Newly Retired: At Carter Caves State Park
last night we took
bedtime pills
in tandem
this morning we followed a red-headed woodpecker
foraging among the oaks
shared a gaze with a browsing fawn
stared at a ruby-throated hummingbird
flitting from feeder to branch

In other words, when we lay down our 9-5 labors, we, too, join nature’s performance. Love it!
Lovely pairing in retirement!
Isn’t the red-headed woodpecker an incredible bird? And great photo of the fawn’s shared gaze. Well written, Gaby!
