4% doesn’t seem like much
Until it gouges money away for those with disabilities
That extra cash keeps them in their homes with loved ones
Not in a warehouse with strangers who don’t know their quirks
Their love for music, candy apples, kittens on their lap
Slashes to programs that inspire independence, safety
Cost less to our pocketbooks and bring smiles
to those who ask for so little.

The idea of a nursing home as a warehouse so succinctly captures the dehumanizing nature of those places ❤️🩹 Well done!
thanks! I was thinking more of the cuts for autistic people but nursing homes fit the bill, too!
Thanks for writing this. My oldest daughter in CA is pretty independent, but needs some help day to day. She is the one reliable caller and sender of Father’s Day cards
Another poem containing powerful truths. An important write!

I like the anger that’s showing up in your poems this month, Linda. Nice to see you speaking up & out…
Thanks! My feisty side is coming out!
Well-crafted and compassionate, Linda. Good heart!
Keep being feisty! Keep those issues in front of people.
And important message. Well done with this.
So impactful, with a perfect title. My 2cents- Get it out there!
