An American Sentence
Poem, too, slips lost between the cushions, breaking into nameless crumbs.
(Note: An American sentence is a variation on the haiku and was invented by Allen Ginsburg.)

Love it, Pauletta, and the American sentence is the perfect vessel.
Something new for me, the American sentence!
Thanks Pauletta for reminding us of Ginsburg’s ‘American Sentence’ and love this one!
Yes it reminds me of that feeling of crumbling the paper or waking and the poem just written with eyes closed crumbles with eyes open.
I particularly like how the sentence is broken up like crumbs.
Favorite phrase: slips lost between the cushions,
Ginsburg’s like old beer: the taste may be a tad flat but the fizz’s still there
Ah, a new form to explore! And the metaphor of crumbs for the lost poem is a good one.
