Bolting
On my drive this morning
I notice the vulture
perched upon dead limb
Envy surges forward
not for flight exactly,
but for imagining the ability to rise up
when branches break
to light, to lift,
to escape.

I love the idea of being able to soar away from our troubles. Great poem!
Rachel, you need to include a flying car (called ‘The Vulture’) in your next set of story illustrations!
