Burns, OR part II
Sometimes, I want to quit my job
and move home, bridges burned.
But sometimes, I’m drinking
four roses on the rocks
in a little ranch house
full of bird dogs and nice furniture
while a woman tells me about
her ribs recipe and how she uses
just a smidge of maple syrup
to add some sweet to all that spice
and I can’t remember if home
is here or there.

Your title really works! This captures a feeling I’ve had often. I’ve moved around a lot and it can be hard to know where home is.
Sounds like those roots are setting. Love your choice of details and how they build a place.
Very nice betwixt and between and you want them both. Enjoyed it
A little sweet to balance all that spice sounds like a winning hand to me …
I feel this poem in my bones.
