Dripping From Our Lips
WE LET
words spill
The silliest
out of our mouths
things in our minds
conjured up
without fear
that’s some kind of
an attempt
To becoming
close to something
INTIMATE,
THE NOTHINGS
we burned hours
Changing one word
speaking about
suddenly it’s just
Seeing each other’s
too hot to touch
significant others
at events
Hoping we understand
our relationship
STATE,
I CAN’T,
won’t and don’t
Lovers
shut you out
having hurt me
We’re
like a punch
concerned when
in the gut
either one is
SILENT.

I like how the spaces in the phrasing create this disjointed feel. As if the author is unsure how to take this relationship itself.
Thank you
I enjoyed the ‘staircase’ structure in this. It definitely forces a certain rhythm in my mind and read well down the page.
The form was meant to imitate the cascade of water dripping or the words falling from lips.
It also allows for non-linear reading that exposes many other clear passages, which remain coherent to the initial story of the poem from possibly the perspective of the two lovers involved.
