Encounter of the Fourth Kind
At approximately 7:15 this evening
I became human again.
All day long my heart was held hostage
in an alien interdimensional spaceship.
I barely remember those zany gray guys
and their large black almond-shaped eyes.
I don’t know if they stole my sperm
or poked me in weird places.
But no worries! I’m back! My breath
flows easy with the rhythm of a song.
I can’t account for my missing hours
but at the end of the day who can?

Out-of-Body couplets:
last line so true
A funny take on our unmemorable days.
Hilarious yet sobering. That last couplet is killer.
No one writes like you, Mike! Love the couplets, and the unique take on the data overload of our lives.
This is so fun and amazingly written! The aliens in zany gray suits who may or may not have stolen your sperm remind me of SNL’s close encounters, lol!
Welcome back to Earth! We missed you!
Thanks everyone for the comments!
I like how you started the poem – At approximately 7:15 this evening
I became human again. It begs the question, what were you before? Very mysterious.
