Endurance
It will happen that the time will come
When against all best hopes, today
Will dissolve into watery pictures of
A yesterday now in scattered shards.
Help us reach for our best impulse to
Save some of what is left for the blessed
Hour when the pain retreats with just
Room enough to take first steps.
Icebergs of imprisoned emotion
Endanger even the strongest ships.
We pray for enough warm winds
To bring us back to a better place.

Strength in the face of challenge is always inspiring. Well done.
I love this poem. The images you paint with words are nothing short of amazing!
Thank you for this beautiful way to start my Friday. Your poem is wonderful!
Strong, Bruce.
Icebergs of imprisoned emotion
Endanger even the strongest ships.
I, too, love this poem, though I’m telling myself “a better place” does not refer to the world beyond.
. . .and you are right. The reference is to the day when the warm winds of our care will give her days that are not as bad as what she has suffered today,
Ah, this is the poem of the day! It really hit the spot! Thanks for sharing it!
