Escaping Politics
Seeking respite from the news,
I watch the egrets glide in to land–
listen hard enough to hear them
splash down in the water,
drift silent as a cloud.
Out my morning window
the world appears unharmed
unmolested, herons glide by.
Ibis peck on orange legs
attentive to each morsel
yummy bugs in the belly.
Fog shrouds, silences,
the world holds its breath
waiting.

An important reminder! You capture the anxiety and anticipation of living in this present moment so clearly and beautifully, Pat.
Thanks for listening and hearing, Chris
Seeking respite. . .and no better way than to pay good attention to those in the heron family whose intelligent seeming approach to the stresses of life fills such a need.
Such good writing.
I held my breath reading this. The ending captures so much of what many of us are feeling.
