Fine Young Men
Never met Uncle Bill
Who died in WWII
Flying a B-26 Marauder
His crew tried and true
All the fine young men
Who passed in that war
They served the cause for freedom
Its tyranny we abhor

Nice homage poem!
Thank you! Yes, it was tough to lose an uncle I never met, yet heard a lot of stories about him! He was only 21.
Wonderful homage! I think about those men in that war often, as my grandfather served in the Navy during WWII. Thank you for writing this as it gave me unexpected time to think of him today.
Thank you, amazing what all these men did for our country and world peace.
Your word choices and the clear, uncomplicated structure of your poem echo the straightforward values and backbone those men had. Nice rhyming, too. Good on you making sure those guys are not forgotten.
Jules, thanks loads for your commentary. I appreciate you reading my poem.
Your poem says so much. It is so well done. I liked how you started with a personal statement and moved to the bigger picture and what you wanted to say. Thanks for this poem Jess.
