floating in my room at 22:36
to the top of the world and back.
across our world in an instant
to the death, til it’s dinnertime, til your dad calls you downstairs
til we’re interrupted happy or go to bed empty
to the top of the world and back.
reach up, touch obsession, forget tomorrow
touch your toes and remember the unsteady feeling life gives you
think of the fall in between, the fall you’ve manufactured the memory of because it should be there
let time slip by
and feel like you’re
finally eight again

Love this imagery!
author’s note:
this is about playing minecraft. I’ve spent so many hours with friends over the internet. it’s one of the ways I kept in touch with friends when I would move. it’s a weird feeling to only talk to someone when you’re playing a half-baked block game with them. the internet is pretty cool. it’s probably slowly killing me, but at least I can talk to people over it!
The poem is solid enough on its own, with its imagery and pace (LOVE the second stanza). But I’m also really glad to read this after your contextual comment. I had a similar experience with someone through Runescape, and damn, that’s a fond memory I haven’t visited in a while. Thank you so much for this poem!
I felt adventure and excitement the whole way through!
This makes me nostalgic for memories I don’t have. Love your Minecraft poetry
