Floral Whispers
The honeysuckle vined along the broken cedar fence
at the same time wild wisteria filled the corridor of the woods
and whispered to me stay the course.
Purple hydrangea rolled along the side of the house
waves of hope crashing in fragrant curves
filtering through the lace curtains.
I bent down to caress the tall lupine,
heard the chime of angel trumpets
clearing the world’s chaos in the summer heat.
Floral whispers continued with the pink primrose
and deep red creeping phlox piercing the silence
cascading down the hillside.
Hollyhocks climbed the splintered barnwood
piled along the east fork of the river from times long gone,
reminding me to see beauty in all things.

When the flower speak, we must listen! So lovely!
And it is such a soothing sound. Thank you.
I love how there is a whispering “w” sound in each stanza. Very nice!
Thank you for noticing that, Nancy. I did not and had to go back and read after you mentioned it. I appreciate your validation.
What lovely images!
Thank you for reading and for your kind comment.
Takes me back to my grandmother’s “snow ball” bush as we called hydrangea. Hers was purple, too.
You capture their beauty and movement well:
“…rolled along the side of the house
waves of hope crashing in fragrant curves
filtering through the lace curtains.”
What a great memory. Yes, we called them snowballs also. I did not hear of hydrangea until I was an adult. Thanks so much for your kind validation.
Love all the beautiful floral images and how they calm us.
Such a wonderful validation, Linda. Thank you.
That third stanza is an absolute dream!
I appreciate that and am pleased it gave you some meaning.
“heard the chime of angel trumpets\clearing the world’s chaos in the summer heat” really drove the piece home. Well done with this vivid and colorful poem!
Thank you for that wonderful insight and validation. I appreciate it.
