I saw myself smile today
joy,
a memory,
left far from my mind
I stare with affinity at a smile so foreign, it seems stolen, not mine

Yay ! 🙂
This is a great poem. I like how it circles past the memory back to the title.
Simple and direct; memories can be so scattered and hurried, but it’s nice when the simplicity of thought comes easily.
Nice. I’ve had similar thoughts looking at pictures of myself—which is one of many reasons I do it so rarely.
Thanks Kevin, I am scheduled to do a headshot with you through the Lexington Writers Room. It will be nice to meet you!
Wonderful!
I identify with this. We have to watch our minds, don’t we?
Nice rhythm here – I like how the poem grows into a smile! Enjoyed reading your work again!
Compact meaningful poem!
This is so poignant.
This is simple and perfect.
Wowsers! I love the title and, man, that ending:
smile so foreign, it seems stolen, not mine
