Insert Name Here
For all my evangelical friends who are
long on fervor but short on discernment
I’ve prepared a quick and easy guide
for sizing up each candidate.
Find a modern-language version
of First Corinthians chapter 13
and insert the name of the person
in place of the word “love”.
Like this:
____is patient
____is kind
____does not envy
____does not boast
____is not proud
____is not rude
____is not self-seeking
____keeps no record of wrongs
____does not KNXXHHHH!!!
(sorry, that was me spraying beer out my nose.
I can’t do this any more.)

You said it for so many of us, but you did it with flair. Vitriol would be all I could conjure. Thank you for showing a clearer
path.

How discerning.
OMG!! Hilarious!! Dripping with sarcasm! That ending is so unexpected and rich! I love this poem!!!!
the format and subject of this poem and how you carried it out is real creative and fun to read!
I also love this–gave me a good laugh! I appreciate a twist at the end.
The poem I needed coming into this year. Thank you for this.
Nice use of the visual aspect of the poem. And amen to all the other words of praise. I think amen is appropriate here.
