“I’ve done some shit in my life. Some of which I regret. Anybody who says they haven’t, is probably a sociopath.”
I’ve gotten angry because of my inability to speak in a manner others can clearly comprehend,
And yeah,
Acted like I didn’t when in fact I could fully understand,
Looked away when I shouldn’t,
Was sometime silent, when I should’ve wailed like a high wind,
We’re watching and fearing and fearing what we watch,
Being told, just comply and give up what dignity you got,
The people saying that
don’t fit the description to be slammed so hard it frees up snot,
Nah bruh, you got me wrong
I had black girlfriend in college dude,
That’s sounds familiar like a coded way to say,
I went slumming too,
Myself, I wont discriminate
FACT! this much is true,
No matter what your race is Ethnically you can be somebody’s jiggaboo,
So lets pull our hats down low and pull up hard on the straps of our boots,
If I scratch your back can I my friend,
Perhaps be in cahoots,
Come now, let us reason together
For the things we’ve done have left us bloody,
And together we can come out white as snow
Because I got your back buddy.

This poem is properly grimy — I love it. I especially like how deliberately uncomfortable the third stanza is. It really makes the reader squirm, and that’s exactly what it should do.
Thank you!
I have found it hard to say the words on my tongue previously in life for fear of being seen as being an antagonist.
Time and body mileage have given me freedom to speak freely.
You had me in the palm of your hand from start to finish. So much truth.
The voice of this poem comes through so incredibly well, keeping me enraptured all the way to the end!
Powerful words!
Thank you all for your assessment of my poetry.
I’m looking forward to reading your poetry and sharing more throughout the month.
Looking forward to reading more of your poems!
Your poem reminds me of Youssef Komunyaka, one of my favorite poets.
Thank you and I will look his works up.
I have to say, I’m very humbled after reading his works.
Perhaps there is hope for imposters like me.
