Kentucky’s Own
Fretty chervil is what Hopkins calls
the green entanglement
that seeks to strangle
everything straight
in my lawn or garden.
I just think it’s Kentucky
reclaiming its own.

Fretty chervil! Who knew?
Love the conciseness and control here.
Every time I see it, that photo of you makes me smile.
This great! It’s both high and low.
Trying to tame Kentucky is certainly not a journey for the faint hearted.
yes, Kentucky has claimed its own out back of our house, too, although it was never much of a battle. What I like best about your poem is Kentucky’s wildness
Yeah. entangled and strangly
And I love the word chervil.
Glad you made it this month.
