Monostich Thatch #5 (Are you gaslighting yourself?)
Please, anything but the truth. No one wants to hear that.

Your Monostiches leave me speechless and Real Kentucky left me wanting to write a response poem. I’m enjoying the ride.
This should be stitched into t-shirts and ball caps; you have a knack for finding such clothes-worthy phrases. They could be handed out a visitor’s centers from Corpus Christi to Newport News. I also like how this suggests that people can (commonly maybe) gaslight themselves, and the poem itself feels so ubiquitous, one might just think there’s gas leak seeping from some swoln hole the breadth of a sunken volcano.
Haha! Yes, yes. I think in my journal that is exactly what that part of the title is. It is written: A Tee shirt that says “Are You Gaslighting Yourself?”
Phrases like this become iconic in our household and before you know it, you’ve applied it to everything
Thank you Catherine 😊
I hope you do write a response poem! That would please me! When reading more about the monostich I saw the title is used to add extra meaning. I had already started using one word titles but in some of them I had added a phrase to the one word title in my notebook. Here I decided I had to include it. I also had written another poem with this title yesterday (Are you gaslighting yourself) or something similar before writing the monostich. In fact, many of these are me writing one or two long or short poems and then condensing the one I like to a line. I may still get the long version out there, I dunno. It’s a really intense one, and this felt like a relief to be brief and relatively cool.
The truth is a hard pill to swallow! Fabulous work again.
