My Goldfish Pals
We have a battalion of six tiny goldfish
schooling like battleships in our little pond.
(We rescued them from a muddy hole,
our neighbor’s pond that sprang a leak and died.)
They swim on their sides, wave their fins at me,
and wink – a shot of courage to face the day.

the secret life of dying ponds… how nice.
This made me smile. Thanks!
Love the image of goldfish as battleships.
I agree with Gwyneth, picturing a “battalion” of goldfish ready for battle is both hilarious and sweet! Thank you for giving us this “shot of courage” to start our day!
Delightful
Love the image of a goldfish on its side, waving.
This battalion now serves at the Wilson front! Nice one.
Love the fresh inspiration, observation of this
Goldfish as muse! I like it.
They swim on their sides, wave their fins at me,
and wink – a shot of courage to face the day.
Made me smile!
That wink is my favorite part! Great poem!
