My Hopes
My hopes stagger from my mind
To be brutalized by moonlight
But feeling as if it’s only on a stage
Letting performance get in its way.
My body steps onto flies
Gathered loosely before my eyes
I briefly wonder what I want to be
Where on my body I want the pain to berate.
Pain too has a dream
An apology that is at its seams
Mea culpa, a human architecture
My ego, before it as a small stone figure.
