nursemaids
ALL CAPS
and pinecones
rest on moss
on rocks
or stones
as the poet put it:
maybe even bone
the lower cases
also rest
or settle
somewhere lower down
coverskulls
to prop up patriarchy
who made all your hats?
leather felt cloth
and needles
up and down
and side by side
mother maiden crone
babysitter
whore and bride
matted hairs
collide
challenge your beliefs-
unpry the grip
of power
wait and watch
for you to let
it slide
single strands
laid
side by side
as if they multiply
not mine not yours
but my oh my-
in the sweet
by and by
with no other choice
but to
wait and watch
you die.

first draft.
and feminist…. (in case that is unclear) 🙂
This packs a punch. I love the rhythm and the feminist sentiments.
your naturalistic opening
ALLCAPS & lower cases
coverskulls had me thinking
then the femine list and challenge
of the grip of power
This hits a lot of chords
Fantastic
I think you’ve got a good start here, Dustin. It’s been interesting this month to see you let your political flags fly. Hard to do, finding the balance between the politics and the art, but I think this is heading there.
lots of angry scribbles on pages that didn’t ‘make the cut’
🙂
Love the music in this poem.
Adore this start:
ALL CAPS
and pinecones
The spareness and the form leave lots of space for the reader to fill in. Very intriguing!
Love the rhythm and pace
Like your style, notes or not
prog lyrics
coffee names

Tickles the tongue, trickles up the brain and melts deliciously down the throat.

Loved the form and the rythm. Also I was wondering what if we saved to baby from the woman doing her things?
