Ocarina of Time
The street lights weren’t on yet
when I figured out the Forest Temple
I ran outside to find my brother
We’d been stuck for months
The first time we played was on Josh’s N64,
the boy who lived with our dad—
a dungeon we couldn’t solve
That’s why we cared so much
to be the hero, to save the princess
to slay the demon
of divorce

This is a powerful poem.
First, there is the magic of childhood brought back to me. I remember how tricky that dungeon, and the rest of the game, was.
But then that second stanza hits, and it’s a reminder of how kids go through things just like us adults, how they have their ways of getting through those times, and how we should never forget how important all of that is.
Very powerful. Thank you for sharing.
