Off Center, Middlesex County
Out here when they offer
me a destination, when they name
a place I do not recognize,
it almost always means an
hour drive, or longer.
If I cannot quickly relearn
how to calculate my needs,
how to trust destiny despite
the distance, how to make
the most of it, I will sink
and sink into this countryside, left
nowhere, nowhere
to go but down.

There are good and bad times.
Today’s tarot reading is correct, recognizing I am between a secure past and a new adventure.
I feel this, so thoroughly. well done.
One step in front of another, sweet friend.
My heart breaks for your own sorrow, and it also means so much that you reach back with love when you witness mine, to acknowledge it today.
Shedding a few healing tears. Thank you.
Stirringly beautiful words.
Thanks! I was spoiled, living in Lexington! 😉
I feel you finding your bearings in this poem!

I feel this! Aren’t we all trying to learn to trust destiny despite the distance? Well said!
We are. But poems and community help.
Thank you so much!
I love the line “recalculate my needs” reminds me of the GPS system repeating “recalculating” and I love that you give that inner compass priority over the satellite one!
