On Dali’s “Velasquez Painting the Infanta Marguerita with the Lights and Shadows of His Own Glory”
sometimes I feel so damn good
that I am near supernova
could die right then at that moment and
whatever animates me could explode into a thousand million particles of light and energy
and dissipate across the earth
merging with every person animal tree flower
fusing with my lover’s energy at last
o my soul

The poem led me to the painting, which I’d never seen before. I see how it could lead the poem to “whatever animates me could explode into a thousand million particles of light and energy/ and dissipate across the earth/ merging with every person animal tree flower.”
I must look up thepainting that inspires such exciting words.
The painting is huge. When I saw it in the museum in St Pete, I cried.
I, too, had to look up the painting. It is incredible! I can’t imagine seeing it in person! Your poem is a fitting tribute to it – beautiful in its own right!
I have seen this painting in person. Your capture is intimate and wonderful.
