Painful moment
Turkey vultures picked at his lifeless body
on the road before me
i looked away.
He was a baby raccoon hit by a car left
to die all alone.
Another one of life’s painful moments
i couldn’t bear to watch.

I like how you had lowercase ‘i’s, as if the letter is shrinking away just as you turned away.
And it was indeed a painful moment, but I’m happy you could join us for some of the happier ones this June. I wanted to say thank you for reading my work, as I loved reading yours. All the best to you!

Linda – So enjoyed reading your work this month! Keep writing!
Thanks Sylvia…you planted a seed in 2019!
Really like this poem, Linda. It’s a little snapshot of how cruel life can be. I guess the turkey buzzards need to eat, too. Kind of balances things out.
I also like the lower case i.
