Physics in a Black Hole
Red, white and blue is waving weightless
no sun to circle, no terra that’s firma
nothing exerting the pull of gravity
but an orange-haired Hitler making reality a show.
Or, perhaps we are in an elevator car
winding drum stripped, ropes snapped
on frictionless rails in a damned hoistway
riding to the bottom of the shaft.

I waffle between this and counter-punching optimism.
I would like to be optimistic. I fear that people don’t really see the magnitude of the task before us.
I perused this quickly, avoiding all black holes.
Best one yet!! The elevator hurtling to the bottom of the shaft is a perfect metaphor for the way things seem to be going in DC right now. You have a knack for political poetry!
Would rather write about puppies and sunshine, but it’s hard to ignore what’s happening
