Aureate
Gold occurs in veins:
hydrothermal,
formed by pressure, heat,
fracture,
and time.
The monarch hangs
beneath the leaf
boasting gilt spangles
because extinction
never forbade it.
Earth does not optimize for austerity:
she pushes matter past use,
until the universe develops
reflective surfaces.

“Gold occurs in veins …” is a brilliant way to start this beautiful poem, to convey its depth and breadth with such economy. Your word choices and lines breaks, the punction. The images and the concept itself. All of it conveys such rich ideas so expansive in their range. Amazing amazing work.
thank you so much 💛
What Jules said.
You do something here that few poets manage: using scientific concepts both as metaphor and subject matter. Wonderful.
thank you 🌞
