Rain
Rain poured from the dark sky for the first
time in weeks,
and behind claps of thunder
I heard the earth sigh with satisfaction.
I left a glass on the porch to collect my share
so I could drink the changing atmosphere
and sate myself,
soaking wet,
with lightning left to spare.

Love the last two lines 🙂
I love all the images in this and how they all work together.
Love a sensibility that welcomes the rain!
I love the build. In a word? What I felt at the end?

Awesome poem. You had me at Rain. I love cold rain and snow. 🙂
You really stuck the landing.
Thank you all! We finally got rain after a few weeks of warm, sunny weather. I had to write about the welcome it received. ♥️
I love rain, even too much rain, but of course I never think it is too much–live too high up for flood, I guess. Anyway I loved your Rain poem for all the reasons the others pointed out and also because . . .
Yes, I, too, love the rain. Thank you for reading.
