Recovery from Exhaustion
The inertia of rushing. The boulders
of the shoulders frozen upwards, as if
to protect the soft of the neck.
The heartbeat suspects slowdowns
bring death. The awkward encounter
with overdue emails – shipwrecks
in a sea of guilt. Apologizing for being late.
The mind galloping towards a distant field.

Love the internal rhymes that explain how conscientious you are! Well done!
A series of enchanting images
emails definitely feel like this
Terrific, Katerina! The yummy rhymes are the sweet in the sour.
“shipwrecks/in a sea of guilt” – awesome! Let your mind enjoy the gallop.
You have packed so much into these lines, and it makes me feel the pressure that causes the exhaustion. There’s musicality in here with your work choices which enhance the message: “Shipwrecks in a sea of guilt.” Wow. Nailed it!
You describe it all well. I responded to “with overdue emails – shipwrecks/in a sea of guilt.”
Excellent description that evokes the inner experiences being described
Love the juxtaposition of “inertia “”with “rushing”, with “death” against the “mind galloping.” This poem resonates in so many powerful and memorable ways… Brava!
Makes me short of breath just reading it!
This right here—
shipwrecks/in a sea of guilt
I think you are writing from the language of the body. It’s impactful! Let’s your body rest too. Your body speaks that language too. Thank you.💚
Oh, the pressure! I felt the shoulders frozen upwards — exactly what happens to me under stress. The last line contains hope.
“The mind galloping towards a distant field.” hits home 🕊️
Gorgeous! “inertia of rushing,” “boulders of the shoulders”! So visceral- I feel this fatigue. That last line is a wonderful contrast that leaves me with hope that recovery is imminent.
