There are wolves

in British Columbia
who slip from forest
to sea
and swim miles
in the cool green blue
to lap salt-rich eggs from kelp
and rip barnacles from their moors.
Can I, too,
enter into the waters
and howl across the sun-jagged waves
and leave the land behind?
