she appeared in 9 of my dreams last night
she likes Pad Thai followed with fermented honey and cranberries
would you like to dine with me in the cemetery?
subsequently asking if I liked realms of melancholy to which I responded with “very”
I like meeting someone whom only I can make merry
I asked if she would be in the next dream when I awake from this dream and if she’d come back as a fairy
and if you could also be a stranger again I’d dump more of my thoughts and have less to carry
she has a piano in her room but doesn’t play it and that’s contrary
I don’t categorize her and that makes her more interesting and less ordinary

This poem really feels like a dream with its strange symbols and delightful dream logic. The first line is quite memorable. It made me smile.

rhyming cranberry and cemetery wow!
and i love the detail of an unused piano taking up space as taking up space in a dream.
So much to love in this, one of my favorites is ” if you could also be a stranger again I’d dump more of my thoughts and have less to carry”. I also like the dream-like quality of this piece. Nice one.
love how the “realms of melancholy” transports me to the high romantic poets with a sprinkle of nonsense verse–two of my favorite styles you have made your own
This is beautiful and dreamy and so many good lines.
Some of the enjambment is amazingly similar to the way a dream breaks rules and I love love love that.
It does feel like dreaming.
