Summer Supplication
Your arm anchors my body in this moment –
cool cotton sheets twist around our ankles,
caramel beer kisses loiter on my lips,
mingled sweat trickles down my chest
while the ceiling fan sings its lullaby.
You slumber,
and I pray I won’t need you.

This could mean need, as in sexual need, too hot to be completely welcome, but it can also be emotional need, binding them together.Good poem.
A variety of meanings for the reader….caused me to think deeply….i liked it!
Love this.
