The Student
Lay me flat on the page
before you, bind me with ink sinews
Dissect and probe me, cutting away
what you cannot use
When you unearth my scraps, don’t
ignore the stench that assails
you, or scratch out the gashes
that remain
where language fails.

I really enjoyed this!
Thought provoking. I like.
So many layers to this poem! I feel like the student searching for all the meanings. Well done!
Very interesting poem. Packs a lot of meaning into a small amount of words, and I like the sinister vibe to it.
Thank you.
Agree with all above….thought provoking poem!
Thanks, all!
