The Weight of Water #13
The day started quietly
pleasant, even.
A wisp of wind
on a dewy morning.
The bliss of ignorance
before the truth set in.
The pain of knowing
you’re gone.
The day ended forcefully
violent, even.
An angry breeze
and the spit of rain in my face.

I love how you focus on the beginning and end, the dawn and dusk,
I like how you capture that moment when something painful that has receded back moves to the forefront of consciousness.
I love the effortless transition from tranquility to anger.
This is a song lyric too. Perfectly communicated.
Very effective and so well-done!
effective closing couplet
You demonstrate how art and craft can be combined in a poem.
Seamless transition from a day on your side, “pleasant, even,” to one that rebels against you. Nice turn and end.
